Lindenwood’s game Saturday afternoon against #1 University of Wisconsin has been canceled officially due to facility issues at Lindenwood Ice Arena in Wentzville, Missouri caused by a carbon monoxide leak that sent players to local hospitals.
19 players - 18 from Lindenwood and 1 from Wisconsin - sought medical attention Friday night for carbon monoxide poisoning. Several reported dizziness as symptoms following Friday’s 5-1 win by the Badgers. All were eventually released.
Today's @BadgerWHockey was postponed because of the arena issue and the Badgers are all now OK and headed back to Madison, per spokesperson.— Todd Milewski (@ToddMilewski) January 7, 2017
Whether Saturday’s non-conference game between the two teams will be rescheduled will be determined at a later date. It should be noted that while the Lions host the 2017 Frozen Four in the St. Louis area, that event will be played at a different locale. The 2017 Frozen Four will be played at Family Arena in St. Charles, Missouri from March 17-19.
In addition to the women’s hockey game, a men’s club hockey game between Lindenwood and Ohio University was also canceled.
