WCHA searching for next women's commissioner

The WCHA is undertaking a national search to find its next women's commissioner and association vice president.

A six person search committee chaired by University of Minnesota Duluth Athletic Director Josh Berlo (who has recent experience in this kind of thing) is in place to help with the process.

The 8 team WCHA has been the premier women's hockey conference when it comes to raising banners. WCHA teams have won 15 of the 16 NCAA national championships and the conference has been represented by two teams named Wisconsin and Minnesota in the Frozen Four in four of the past five seasons.

Previous commissioner Aaron Kemp resigned February 5th. Men's commissioner Bill Robertson, also on the search committee, took on added responsibilities, running both leagues for the rest of the season. (Robertson, for what it is worth, has also been mentioned by the Minneapolis Star Tribune as a candidate for the vacant University of Minnesota AD position.) In his short stint, the WCHA was able to get the Final Faceoff championship game on live television for the first time.
