It was a long and winding journey to college hockey, but Greg Ogard finally made it. The goaltender from De Pere, Wis. has committed to play for Jim Montgomery and the Denver Pioneers.
The 21 year-old has traveled far and wide, playing junior hockey for teams such as the Coulee Region Chill, the North Iowa Bulls, the Edina Lakers and most recently the Bay State Breakers.
Perseverance pays off. Ogard most likely will be the third string goaltender for the Pioneers this year in back of Sam Brittain and Evan Cowley. He's already defied all odds to make a Division I roster so down the line, don't count out the six-foot-one Ogard from seeing ice time.
