Eagan(Minnesota) High School senior forward Zach Glienke announced via his Twitter account this evening that he has committed to play his college hockey for the University of Maine.
Glienke is a 6'2.5" 185 lbs. forward who has led the Wildcats of Eagan in scoring this year with 30 goals and 30 assists for 60 points. He has been named one of ten finalists for Minnesota's Mr. Hockey Award, given to the state's top senior hockey player. Glienke is also a prospect for this summer's NHL Draft, having been rated as the 115th best North American skater by NHL Central Scouting.
This commitment may seem like deja vu for Maine fans. Last spring, Maine picked up a commitment from Will Merchant, who at the time, was a senior forward at Eagan HS, and also a finalist for the Mr. Hockey Award. In his freshman campaign with the Black Bears, Merchant has scored two goals and three assists in 29 games.Former Eagan defenseman Sam Wolfe had also committed to play for the Black Bears, but had his offer withdrawn by Maine.
