Burnsville High School(Minn.) junior Tyler Sheehy announced via his Twitter account (@t_sheehy22) that he had verbally committed to Ohio State.
Sheehy, a 5'10" 175 lbs forward, is one of the top high schoolers in the state of Minnesota. We currently have him rated as the third best junior in the state behind Edina's Connor Hurley and St. Cloud Cathedral's Austin Poganski. He's played in the Upper Midwest Elite League each of the past two falls, as well as dressed in a few games for the Waterloo Blackhawks of the USHL. Through 20 games this season with Burnsville HS, Sheehy has 12 goals and 23 assists for 35 points against a pretty difficult high school schedule. He's a late '95 birthday, which means he'll be eligible for the 2014 NHL Draft.
Sheehy had been recruited by many schools in the upper midwest, but he'll head to the Buckeyes where head coach Mark Osiecki is an alum of Burnsville HS. Playing in the Big Ten will also keep him playing in Minnesota and Wisconsin every year.
