Michael Booth Commits to Cornell

The Big Red snag a big time prospect.

Michael Booth, a top 1996 born prospect playing for the Fargo Force of the USHL, has committed to play college hockey at Cornell.

Booth, originally from the Team Illinois AAA program, has scored 4 goals and 8 assists in 32 games in his rookie campaign with the Force.

Here is what we said about Booth at this summer's Fargo Force tryout camp:

Michael Booth-Fargo's 2nd pick in this year's Futures Draft. Ideally, he would probably be an affiliate that gets his 10 games this year to get his feet wet, before becoming a regular next season, but it sounds like he could end up just making the roster. A really nice, solid all-around player that has a bright future.

WCH's Andy Johnson was also impressed with Booth at this spring's Central District tryouts:

#11 Michael Booth-F-(Team Illinois U16): Really nice hockey player here. Went 23rd in the USHL Futures Draft to Fargo and they got themselves a fine player. Not a huge guy at 5'10, 167 but he knows how to play the game.

USHR rated him as their 28th best forward at this summer's national Select 16 Festival, where Booth earned an invitation to play for the US team that competed in the summer's Five Nations Tournament:

28. Michael Booth (#11 Columbia Blue, 3-2-5) 5-10/170 — Great skater who plays with a lot of energy. Is good in transition. Is all over loose pucks and creates turnovers. Played for Team Illinois U16s last year and will be in Fargo (USHL) this year. Was named to the Five Nations team.
