Two New Recruits for Michigan Tech

Michigan Tech received verbal commitments from two defensemen last week in Des Moines Buccaneers defenseman Marcus Ericsson, and Wisconsin HS defender Tristan Rostagno.

Ericsson is a '93 born defenseman that should provide more immediate help, joining the Huskies next season. He is originally from Lulea, Sweden, and played for Lulea's hockey program up through their U20 program. This year, he made the move to the US to play for Des Moines in the USHL, and that move has already paid off with a scholarship.

Rostagno, meanwhile, is a nice pick-up for the Huskies' long-term future. The Arrowhead HS defender is a late '96 birthdate, just starting his sophomore year of high school this year, meaning it will be at least two more years before he goes to Houghton. After one more season of high school hockey, Rostagno will likely play for the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL for his final two years of high school. Rostagno recently completed a very impressive weekend at the NAHL Showcase tournament, where he was the top defenseman on Team Wisconsin's U16 team which beat very good sqauds from Chicago Mission and Team Minnesota to win their division.
