Patrick Koudys Commits to Penn State

Koudys will join the NIttany Lions as a junior next season.

The fledgling Penn State program continued their trend of picking up experience anywhere they can get it by getting a commitment from former RPI defenseman Patrick Koudys, who is currently playing for the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL.Koudys played two years with the Engineers, meaning he will come in as a junior for the NIttany Lions.

Koudys, the son of a former NHL defenseman, came to RPI at a very young age, not turning 18 until November of his freshman season, with high expectations and on the radar for a high NHL draft pick. He struggled with the transition to college hockey, however, and ended up returning to the USHL after seeing his playing time diminish.

Even if it appears unlikely that Koudys will ever capitalize on the potential that once had him talked about as a first or second round NHL draft pick, he should still be a solid addition to the Penn State program that will help their transition to the Division I level.
