Michigan Tech's upset win over number one Minnesota may have paid dividends for the Huskies off the ice as well. With a big name opponent in town, the Huskies took the opportunity to invite some prospects from the state of Minnesota to view the games.
As a result, Michigan Tech has picked up verbal commitments from two Minnesota Elite League players this past week.
The first is Jake Jackson, a forward from Tartan HS. Jackson is a senior this year, and a late '94 birthdate, making him eligible for this year's NHL Draft. He was one of the top scorers in the Elite League this year, and has impressed scouts with his speed and excellent scoring touch around the net.
The second is Rogers High School defenseman Travis Brown. Brown is a '96 born player that is among the top of a very good group of players in his age group. He's a bigger defenseman that is just starting to grow into his body and scratch the surface of his potential. He's more of a defensive defenseman that had a quiet, solid performance in the Elite League this year. The Tri-City Storm of the USHL selected him in their Future's Draft last year.
