Bitzer Commits to BSU

Lincoln Stars goalie Michael Bitzer committed to Bemidji State.

Lincoln Stars goaltender Michael Bitzer (a '93 birthdate) announced via his Twitter account (@michael_bitzer) that he has committed to Bemidji State for either next season or the following season.

Last year, Bitzer starred for Moorhead high school, leading them to a championship in Section 8AA, and an upset win over Eagan in the state high school tournament. He was the runaway winner for the Frank Brimsek award, given annually to the state's top senior goal tender. So far this year for Lincoln, he has made 28 saves on 30 shots in his first start with the Stars, and should compete to see the majority of playing time for the Stars this season as a rookie.

Bitzer is a really nice young goalie and a huge pick-up for the Beavers as they transition into the new WCHA next season, giving them a high-end goalie for the future. Bemidji has a reputation for finding top-notch goalies, and Bitzer should continue that legacy.
