The WCHA announced a three-game suspension for Bowling Green defenseman Will Cullen stemming from a hit on Saturday night in the Falcons’ 5-1 loss at Minnesota State.
With 26 seconds remaining in the game, Cullen viciously drove Minnesota State forward Jared Spooner into the boards from behind, setting off a fight that resulted in a pair of game disqualification fighting majors.

Cullen received a game disqualification penalty for checking from behind for the hit, which carries an automatic one-game suspension. Upon review of the hit, the WCHA decided to add an additional two-game suspension onto the penalty for three total.
As a result, Cullen will miss Bowling Green’s series next weekend against Lake Superior State, as well as the first game of their series the following weekend against Northern Michigan.
