Former Vermont/Denver goalie Packy Munson will be enrolling at Michigan Tech this season, and will be eligible to play immediately for the Huskies.
Munson had transferred from Vermont, where he posted respectable .920/2.37 stats with a 9-10-1 record as a rookie for the Catamounts to the University of Denver.
But after sitting out last season as a transfer, Munson and Denver mutually parted ways this summer with the Pioneers returning Richter Award winner Tanner Jaillet and bringing in highly-regarded freshman Dayton Rasmussen.
Landing Munson this late in the summer is a huge coup for Michigan Tech. The Huskies were looking for experience in goal after the surprise NHL departure of Angus Redmond to the Anaheim Ducks. The Huskies were in the running for Boston University graduate transfer Connor LaCouvee, but LaCouvee ended up opting for Michigan Tech’s conference rival Minnesota State.
Munson will likely compete with incoming freshman goalie Robbie Beydoun, who was a standout with Waterloo in the USHL, for playing time next season.
