Michigan Tech freshman goalie Angus Redmond has signed with the Anaheim Ducks after just one season in Houghton.
Redmond started the season as Michigan Tech’s third goalie behind two returning goalies, though quickly ascended to the starting spot and started Michigan Tech’s last 35 games of the season. He finished the year with a 22-10-5 record, posting a .917 save percentage and 1.85 goals against average. Redmond was named to the WCHA’s all-rookie team.
Redmond’s contract with the Ducks was for three years and will begin next season. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
It’s a tough loss for Michigan Tech, though the Huskies will bring in USHL veteran goalie Robbie Beydoun next season, who will likely assume the starting goaltending duties.
