WCHA Hires Katie Million as Women's Commissioner

The WCHA announced today that Katie Million has been hired as vice president and women's league commissioner, replacing former commissioner Aaron Kemp, who resigned from the post last February.

Million's most recent position was as director of events for the New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority. In her position, she handled the variety of major events held at the Olympic facilities in Lake Placid, NY, including the ECAC men's playoff championships, NCAA D-III championships, and a variety of events for USA Hockey. She also served as general manager of the 1980 Miracle on Ice Olympic Team, managing the professional reputation and branding of the famed gold medal-winning team.

In all, it seems like an outstanding hire for the premier conference in women's hockey. Million makes a nice counterpart to men's commissioner Bill Robertson in that both have a tremendous background as sports executives with experience in building business relationships and marketing events.
