Former Wisconsin assistant coach Gary Shuchuk has been hired to the same position at Michigan Tech by head coach Mel Pearson, it was announced Wednesday morning.

A 1990 Badger alum, Shuchuk was fired by Wisconsin bench boss Mike Eaves back in March following one of the most disastrous seasons in school history. Shuchuk, an Edmonton, Alberta native, replaces Bill Muckalt who left Houghton to take the head coaching position with the USHL's Tri-City Storm.
