Bowling Green freshman defenseman, Matthew Ferrari has left the Bowling Green hockey team:
BREAKING: According to Jason Knavel, Freshman D-man Matthew Ferrari has made the decision to leave the BGSU Hockey team. Details to follow
— BGSUHockey.com (@BGSUHockeySite) October 7, 2015
Ferrari was slated to be one of the youngest players in college hockey this season, joining the Falcons as a late-'97 birthday, making him first-time eligible for the 2016 NHL Draft. Ferrari played his junior hockey for the Toronto Jr. Canadiens of the OJHL last season.
Ferrari participated in Bowling Green's exhibition game last weekend against the University of Toronto and was listed as a starter on defense. The loss of Ferrari, combined with the late summer departure of Nolan Valleau to the NHLleaves the Falcons with just seven defensemen on the roster for the coming season.
The Falcons begin the regular season this weekend with a home-and-home series against Ohio State.
