Making his first start since a Torin Snydeman hit November 21st ended his night 20 seconds into the game, Merrimack senior goalie Rasmus Tirronen made an absolute stunner of a save Friday night.
Tirronen dug low to take away a potential goal by Minnesota sophomore forward Justin Kloos. Kloos, who is tied for the Gophers scoring lead with 7 goals, was in front of the Merrimack net. His shot appeared to have beat Tirronen and in fact, most of the Mariucci Arena crowd celebrated a few seconds as if there was a goal minus the red light.
Merrimack and Minnesota are tied at 1 entering the second period.
