After a week of tough competition at the USA Hockey Select 16 Festival in New York, USA Hockey has selected the top non-NTDP '98-born players from that camp that will participate in the Five Nations Cup this August in Germany.
Here are the players selected for the tournament:
Tim Gettinger(OHL signed)
Riley Tufte(Minnesota-Duluth commit)
Jack Kopacka(OHL signed)
Kieffer Bellows(Boston University commit)
Willie Knierim(Miami University commit)
Kailer Yamamoto(WHL signed)
Hank Crone(Boston University commit)
Mitch Mattson(North Dakota commit)
Ty Farmer(Michigan State commit)
Matt Kiersted(North Dakota commit)
Sam Rossini(Minnesota commit)
Ryan Edquist(Minnesota commit)
A total of nine out of the 20 players selected hail from the state of Minnesota: Tufte, Senden, Bellows, Wait, Mattson, Kiersted, Rossini, Edquist, and Rasmussen. With four others players from the state making the NTDP squad, it marks a very strong birth year for the state.
Five players tendered to USHL squads--Knierim, Crone, Daschke, Farmer, and Rossini--also made the team. Three players have already committed to the CHL, including two players--Kopacka and Gettinger that have already signed with the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds of the OHL.
Jeff Cox, who attended the Select 16 camp, will have a full write-up and player rankings from this year's camp for SBN College Hockey on Monday.
