Mark Osiecki, who spent last season as an assistant coach with Rockford of the American Hockey League after a surprise firing from Ohio State last summer, was named head coach of the 2015 US World Junior team. He will be assisted by assistant coaches Don Granato, Kevin Patrick, and Mike Ayers.
Osiecki brings a wealth of World Juniors tournament experience to the job, having been an assistant coach for the 2010 and 2013 gold-medal winning squads, and the 2011 bronze medal-winning team. He has also served as a head coach for the US internationally in such events as the Ivan Hlinka Memorial U18 tournament.
The 2015 tournament will take place in Toronto and Montreal, Canada from December 26th-January 5th.
Here's our piece from last January on some of the players Osiecki will have to choose from in selecting his team.
