St. Cloud State junior goalie Charlie Lindgren has signed a free agent contract with the Montreal Canadiens.
Lindgren has been a workhorse for the Huskies over the past two seasons, playing over 90% of his team's minutes in each of the past two seasons. This season, he posted a .925 save percentage and 2.13 goals against average while leading the Huskies to a 31-win season, tying the school record for most wins in a season.
We had Lindgren ranked as the 56th-best NHL prospect in the NCAA this past season, and the fourth-best available free agent:
Lindgren has tremendous athleticism for a 6'2" goalie, making it extremely difficult to beat him low. Lindgren has started to harness his athletic ability with better positional play in his junior season, making him a much more consistent goalie.
Lindgren's contract is a two-year contract. The Canadiens have said that Lindgren will finish the season in Montreal, allowing him to burn the first year of that contract this season.
