St. Cloud State senior defenseman and captain Ethan Prow left last Saturday's game against Minnesota State with a reported head injury after being pushed from behind and falling into the knee of a Minnesota State player. This week, Mick Hatten of the St. Cloud Times reported that Prow will not travel with the team to Connecticut for their weekend series against Quinnipiac.
Prow's absence is significant for St. Cloud State. The Huskies are down to just six healthy defensemen with their top defensive pairing now likely consisting of two freshmen--though as I wrote earlier this week, that might not be all bad.
Their opponent this weekend, Quinnipiac, has been impressive in the early season, which should make this a good test for the young St. Cloud State blue line. So far on the season, the Huskies have only allowed two goals in four games, with starting goalie Charlie Lindgren posting shutouts in all three of his starts.
