St. Cloud State sophomore forward Ryan Papa will be out until at least January, and could possibly miss the entire season after having surgery on both hips, according to a story by Mick Hatten in the St. Cloud Times.
Papa was scratched was St. Cloud's second game of the season last year, but otherwise was a key fixture in the St. Cloud line-up, scoring six goals and 16 assists for 22 points. But he did so while suffering through immense pain in his hips. After rest in the off-season didn't help the pain, Papa had surgery to repair a torn labrum in both hips.
The recovery from Papa's surgery will keep him out until at least January, but with Papa unable to do any conditioning work while recovering, there is the possibility he won't be able to work his way into game shape in time to play this season.
