Former University of Denver head hockey coach George Gwozdecky has been hired by the Tampa Bay Lightning to be an assistant coach. He will be an asset to head coach Jon Cooper. Many people in the hockey community praise Gwozdecky for his ability to think outside the box and to innovate game plans.
Gwozdecky resurrected the Pioneers hockey program, leading Denver to the 2004 and 2005 NCAA Championships. In addition, he produced numerous NHL players and countless trips to the NCAA Tournament.
