Denver Adds David Carle to Coaching Staff

Carle leaves Green Bay to join his alma mater on January 1st.

The University of Denver announced today David Carle will join the program as an assistant coach, effective on January 1st, 2014, when current assistant coach Steve Miller leaves to take over duties running Madison, Wisconsin's new USHL franchise.

It's a quick, but well-deserved rise in the coaching ranks for Carle, who just celebrated his 23rd birthday a few weeks ago. In 2008, Carle was expected to be a top recruit for the Pioneers coming out of Shattuck-St. Mary's when physical testing at the NHL Draft combine revealed a potentially life-threatening heart defect that ended his competitive hockey-playing career. Carle spent the next four years at Denver as a student assistant, before graduating this past spring. This year, he has served as an assistant coach with the USHL's Green Bay Gamblers.
