Miami shut out Wisconsin by a score of 2-0 on Friday night to give the RedHawks a win in the first game of their two-game home series against the Badgers.
Freshman Anthony Louis scored at 10:51 mark of the second period to give Miami a lead they would not relinquish. Blake Coleman won a face-off to the left of Wisconsin goalie Landon Peterson, and pushed the puck towards the front of the net, where Louis picked it up a fired a quick snap shot over the shoulder of Peterson.
That was all the offense sophomore goalie Ryan McKay would need. He recorded a Friday night shutout for the third straight weekend, making 30 stops. Austin Czarnik would ice the game with 10 seconds left in the game when he fired the puck the length of the ice to score a short-handed empty-net goal.
The RedHawks are now 7-3-1 on the season, while Wisconsin falls to 3-3-1 on the year. The two teams will complete their series against each other tomorrow night at 7:05 EST.
