The first USHL '99-birthyear tender has been signed by Hill-Murray freshman defenseman Mikey Anderson with the Waterloo Blackhawks:
I am excited to announce that I have signed a tender with @BlckHawksHockey. Thanks to everyone who has helped me along the way.
— Mikey Anderson (@miklovin8) April 3, 2015
Anderson is committed to the University of Minnesota Duluth, along with his older brother Joey, who currently plays for the NTDP U17 team.
Signing a tender means that Anderson is guaranteed a roster spot on the Blackhawks and must dress in at least 55% of Waterloo's games next season. Waterloo forfeits a first round selection(or in their case, their second round pick, since they do not have a first round pick) in the USHL Futures Draft in return for signing Anderson early.
Anderson is a tough, physical defenseman with decent mobility and puck-handling skills. He scored a goal and five assists in 25 regular season games as a freshman for Hill-Murray this season.
