USHL Atlantic Challenge on tap this weekend

The USHL season starts this weekend with five exhibition contests.

EAST MEADOW, NY -- The second annual USHL Atlantic Challenge is scheduled for this weekend at the Twin Rinks at Eisenhower Park. Three USHL teams and the US National Development Program U18 Team highlight the list of teams attending. There will be five games involving USHL teams in addition to the large slate of games involving U18, U16, U14 and Tier III junior teams.

The event, expected to be highly scouted by both NHL scouts and college coaches, begins Friday morning and runs until Sunday afternoon on Long Island. The LI Gulls and NY Bobcats are the hosts of the event.

The Lincoln Stars, Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, Muskegon Lumberjacks and the US NTDP U-18 Team are the four teams participating in USHL exhibition games at the showcase. The Stars and RoughRiders will open up the USHL slate with a game on Friday at 5 p.m. followed by the Lumberjacks facing off against the U-18 squad at 8 p.m.

Friday, September 5:

5 p.m. - Lincoln Stars vs. Cedar Rapids RoughRiders

8 p.m. - Muskegon Lumberjacks vs. USNTDP U-18

Saturday, September 6:

3:30 p.m. - Lincoln Stars vs. USNTDP U-18

6:30 p.m. - Muskegon Lumberjacks vs. Cedar Rapids RoughRiders

Sunday, September 7:

12:30 p.m. - Muskegon Lumberjacks vs. Lincoln Stars
