Brennan Menell Signs with Vancouver Giants

Matt Christians

Brennan Menell, a '97-born defenseman originally from Woodbury, Minnesota, has signed with the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League.  Though he hails from the state of hockey, Menell is well-traveled already, having played for the Omaha Jr. Lancers U16 team two seasons ago, and then playing for the Chicago Young Americans U16 squad last season.

Mennell is a smaller defenseman, listed at 5'10" 180 lbs., that moves the puck very effectively. He came to Giants camp as a free agent and advanced through rookie camp to the main camp, where he picked up assists in each of Vancouver's two intra-squad scrimmages and did enough to impress the Vancouver staff to earn a roster spot.
