Oshawa Generals sign Cushing Academy forward Michael Turner

The Oshawa Generals are picking up a strong, big-bodied power forward who can grind.

Cushing Academy forward Michael Turner, a 2014 NHL Draft target, has decided against the NCAA route, opting to sign with the Oshawa Generals of the OHL. The Chicago, Ill. native played two seasons at the Ashburnham, Mass. prep school after playing bantam and midget hockey with the Chicago Mission and Chicago Young Americans.

Turner, who already has tremendous size at 6-2, is a big-bodied, physical forward who projects as a third or fourth line grinder with the ability to battle in corners at the next level. He played in this past September's CCM All-American Prospects Game.

He had not committed to an NCAA school, but was being recruited by several schools in the midwest as well as out east.
