Troy Thibodeau has officially been named the new Director of Hockey Operations at UMass Lowell. The Danvers, Mass. native will be in charge of breaking down video, keeping advanced metrics and coordinating team travel, among other duties.

"Throughout the interview process, he displayed great organizational skills coupled with strong communication skills," said head coach Norm Bazin, in the school's press release. "We feel he will help our organization improve as he accepts the Hockey Operations position. We feel his eagerness stood out during the interview process."

Thibodeau played hockey and baseball at the University of Southern Maine. He comes to the River Hawks after serving as the video coordinator at Merrimack College last season. He previously worked for Wentworth, University of Denver and University of Florida in hockey and strength and conditioning capacities.

Thibodeau replaces Sean Flanagan, who left to become the assistant coach at Cornell. He joins assistant coaches Cam Ellsworth and Andy Jones on Bazin's staff. The River Hawks are 124-57-18 under Bazin's watch. He has led the program to three NCAA Tournament berths in his five seasons.
