UMD's Brenden Kotyk, Lowell's Adam Chapie Each Suspended One Game

Matt Christians

The NCHC and Hockey East have each announced one-game suspensions to players following last Saturday's games.

Minnesota Duluth defenseman Brenden Kotyk received a one-game suspension from the NCHC for a hit at 2:24 of the third period of Saturday's game against Colorado College. Kotyk received a two-minute elbowing penalty on the play, though video review showed that Kotyk used his stick to hit a player without the puck in the head.

Kotyk will sit out UMD's next game, which is tomorrow against Bemidji State, a game that rescheduled from earlier this season when a power outage forced that game's cancellation.

In Hockey East, UMass Lowell forward Adam Chapie received a one-game suspension for spearing. Chapie was assessed a ten-minute misconduct for the play after Saturday's game against New Hampshire concluded. The River Hawks' next game is against Boston University this coming Friday.
