Northeastern at Boston College: Pregame Notes and Line Combinations

John Corneau/SB Nation

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Good evening and welcome inside Conte Forum on the campus of Boston College where the No. 3/4 Eagles and Northeastern flip sites for the second game of their Hockey East home-and-home series played on consecutive Tuesdays.

Puck drop for the 227th all-time meeting between the rival programs is set for 7 p.m.

In addition to BC senior Ryan Fitzgerald missing his third straight game with a high ankle sprain, there is a noticeable absence from the Northeastern lineup in sophomore Adam Gaudette, while senior Sam Kurker returns after missing six games.

These two teams met exactly a week ago at Matthews Arena, with BC earning a 2-1 win thanks to sophomore defenseman Michael Kim’s shorthanded game-winner ― his first goal of the season and just his second as an Eagle ― with 22.9 seconds to play in regulation.

Sophomore Ryan Ruck made 27 saves to keep the Huskies in last week’s contest, while senior Zach Aston-Reese scored a tying, power-play goal early in the third period. Still, the Eagles managed to squeeze out their ninth win in 14 meetings with Northeastern since 2012.

Tonight marks NU’s first action since then, while BC dropped its third game in the last five with a 4-3 loss to North Dakota at Madison Square Garden. Sophomore Colin White has scored in three straight games, including the opening goal against the Fighting Hawks.
