Boston University sophomore goaltender Max Prawdzik is leaving the hockey program prior to the second semester. He plans to play in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) with the Lone Star Brahmas, but could return to BU in the fall, according to multiple sources.
A former prep school hockey champion at Brooks School in North Andover, Prawdzik never saw any ice time in a regular season game for the Terriers. The Andover, Mass. native has two years of junior hockey eligibility remaining.
The Terriers could be in an interesting predicament for their game against Union College on Thursday, January 5. David Quinn’s team could be without starting goaltender Jake Oettinger, who is representing the United States in the 2017 World Junior Championship. BU could have to call up an emergency backup for the game if the U.S. reaches the Gold Medal or Bronze Medal game. It is assumed Connor LaCouvee will start against the Dutchmen.
