BOSTON — Fresh off a thrilling contest at Matthews Arena, No. 4 Boston University and Northeastern shift their annual Hockey East home-and-home series down the road Saturday night, facing off at Agganis Arena in the 229th all-time meeting between the Boston city rivals.
The teams opened the series with a 4-4 tie, splitting the points as Zach Aston-Reese scored an extra-attacker goal for the Huskies with just 55.6 seconds remaining. The senior assistant captain led NU in the series opener, scoring a goal and two assists.
BU saw a pair of impressive streaks come to an end Friday night. Junior Garret Cockerill opened the scoring for the hosts at the 6:57 mark, breaking Terrier freshman Jake Oettinger’s shutout streak at 134:14, the sixth-longest in program history.
