Northeastern freshman forward Jason Cotton is no longer a member of the Huskies after it was announced on Monday he has withdrawn from the university.

"On behalf of the entire Northeastern hockey community, I would like to wish Jason the best in his future endeavors," head coach Jim Madigan said in a statement released Monday. "I enjoyed working with Jason and I believe he will have a successful future in whichever path he chooses."

The Parker, Texas native impressed in the early going this season, scoring a hat trick in a 10-2 exhibition victory over Simon Fraser University on Oct. 4. He was one of seven freshmen on the NU roster, joining the program from the British Columbia Hockey League's West Kelowna Warriors.

Cotton had sat out each of NU's last five games, including both wins this past weekend at St. Lawrence. He did not record a point and took eight shots on goal over eight regular season contests.
