Norm Bazin has added Clarkson assistant coach Andy Jones to his UMass Lowell coaching staff. The Excelsior, Minn. native spent the previous four seasons on the Golden Knights staff under head coach Casey Jones.
Jones, a 2000 graduate of Amherst College, replaces Jason Lammers, who left the River Hawks to become the head coach and general manager of the Dubuque Fighting Saints in the USHL. Prior to his stint in Potsdam, Jones had spent five seasons as an assistant coach with the Sioux Falls Stampede in the USHL.
A former captain for the Division III Lord Jeffs, Jones was a forward in his playing days. Immediately following his graduation from the NESCAC school, he joined the coaching staff at his alma mater for five years before heading to the USHL.
Jones joins Cam Ellsworth as Bazin's assistant coaches. The River Hawks missed the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011 this past season. UML opens up the 2015-16 regular season with a home tilt against RPI on Friday, October 9.
