CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Welcome inside Kelley Rink where No. 17 Vermont looks to become the second team in as many years to dash Boston College's Hockey East title hopes in the deciding third game of the quarterfinal round on this Sunday evening.

Faceoff is set for 6 p.m. from here in Chestnut Hill. The game will be televised on New England Sports Network with Tom Caron and Billy Jaffe on the call.

Sophomore Brady Shaw scored on two power plays in the first period and junior Brody Hoffman tied a career high with 39 saves to lift the Catamounts to a 3-1 win on Saturday, their first in eight all-time Hockey East playoff meetings with BC.

With a fourth win in six games tonight, UVM would advance to the semifinals at TD Garden for the third time since it joined Hockey East in 2005 and first since 2010.

Shaw leads the Catamounts and is tied for fourth among the nation's second-year players with 19 goals this season, including six in four games this year against the Eagles. Senior captain Mike Paliotta's 36 points lead the team as he looks to become the first defenseman to lead the Cats in scoring since Louis Cote in 1977-78.

The Eagles are the tournament's No. 3 seed for the fourth time in their Hockey East history and have advanced to the conference's championship game in each of the past three seasons (1999, 2000 and 2006) they landed in that spot. BC swept quarterfinal series from UVM in both 2006 and 2013.

Sophomore Ryan Fitzgerald scored BC's lone goal last night, his second on the power play in as many nights and his team-leading 16th of the season. Fitzgerald's score was the lone shot that eluded Hoffman in a 19-save second period, but Brendan Bradley's empty-net goal with 1:21 remaining ensured a Catamount win.

Junior defenseman Michael Matheson has four assists in the series, including the primary helper on each of the Bruins prospect's tallies. He posted a three-assist game for the second time this season in Friday's 4-2 victory for the Eagles.
