Canada announced the roster for their World Junior Championships selection camp today and two NCAA players will have an opportunity at making the team.
Boston University's Brandon Hickey and Providence College's Jake Walman, both sophomore defensemen, were among the eleven defensemen selected that will compete for seven roster spots on the Canadian World Junior team.
The full camp roster is here.
Walman had dual citizenship and had participated in USA Hockey's World Junior Evaluation Camp this past summer, but a recent IIHF ruling said he was ineligible to play for the United States at this year's tournament.
It has become increasingly rare for NCAA players to be considered for a spot on Team Canada's roster. The last NCAA player selected was Colorado College's Jaden Schwartz in the 2012 tournament.
