BOSTON -- Good Saturday evening and welcome inside Northeastern University's Matthews Arena where the Huskies are set to welcome in No. 10/11 Boston University for the back half of a Hockey East home-and-home series. Faceoff is set for 7 p.m.
NU scored four goals in the second period, but sophomore Brandon Hickey and senior Ahti Oksanen found the back of the net in the third as the Terriers rallied to open the series with 5-4 win last night.
Hickey and freshman Ryan Cloonan, who answered NU's second-period rally to tie the score at 14:24, are tied for the Terrier team lead with four goals apiece in the early going.
Senior defenseman Matt Grzelcyk, who missed BU's first six games recovering from offseason knee surgery, scored his first goal of the season just 10:01 into last night's game before assisting on Oksanen's game-winning goal at the 6:28 mark of the third period.
Sophomore Dylan Sikura posted a career-high three points, all in the second period of last night's game, to lead four different Huskies goal scorers. After scoring his first two collegiate goals in back-to-back games, rookie Adam Gaudette is now one of five NU skaters with two or more goals this year.
The Huskies had a plethora of offensive chances in the final period, but could not beat BU sophomore Connor LaCouvee on any of their whopping 19 shots on goal.
