BOSTON -- Good Saturday afternoon and welcome inside Agganis Arena on the campus of Boston University where the No. 7/8 Terriers are set to host the University of Connecticut Huskies in each team's first Hockey East contest of the season.
Faceoff is set for 4 p.m. in the first of a split two-game series. The teams will meet on Tuesday night at XL Center in Hartford, Conn.
The Terriers are coming off a 4-1 win over Wisconsin a week ago today. Sophomore Brandon Fortunato scored the game-winning goal for BU and added an assist while freshman Ryan Cloonan chipped in with two of his three points thus far.
Cloonan and junior defenseman Doyle Somerby are the only Terriers with more than two points in the team's two games -- last Saturday's win over the Badgers and 5-3 loss seven nights before at Union. Two of Somerby's three assists came in the opener.
UConn has won twice in its first three games this season, including a 5-1 decision over Arizona State last Friday. The Huskies opened their season the week before with a weekend split at Alabama-Huntsville.
Freshman Max Kalter's first collegiate goal turned out to be the game-winner against the Sun Devils while sophomore Kasperi Ojantakanen posted the Huskies' first shorthanded goal under third-year head coach Mike Cavanaugh to open the scoring less than two minutes into the game.
Freshman Max Letunov has posted points in each of UConn's first three games and leads it with six points. He registered a hat trick in his Oct. 9 collegiate debut in Huntsville and assisted twice in the Huskies' last outing.
