Hockey East announced on Thursday afternoon that Notre Dame senior defenseman Robbie Russo has been suspended two games by the league stemming from a slashing incident that occurred at the end of last Saturday's game against Northeastern. Russo was assessed a two-minute slashing penalty with 16 seconds left in the game and Northeastern ahead 4-2.
Russo will miss Notre Dame's two games this weekend when they host New Hampshire. Russo has been the top defenseman for the Irish, and is tied with Union's Jeff Taylor for top-scoring defenseman in the country with 25 points this season, including 11 goals, which is tops among collegiate defensemen.
