Providence College assistant coach Jamie Russell has moved on from the program after three seasons on the bench alongside Nate Leaman. The former Michigan Tech bench boss will be pursuing other options, according to Mark Divver of the Providence Journal.

It would be logical that former Providence player and assistant coach Dave Berard, currently the team's Director of Hockey Operations, would slide into the position vacated by Russell. Berard rejoined PC this season after serving as an assistant and interim head coach at UConn.

The news of Russell's departure comes a day after fellow assistant Ben Barr interviewed to be the new head coach at Lake Superior State of the WCHA. According to multiple media reports out of the upper peninsula, Barr is one of several finalists for the opening in Sault Ste. Marie.
