PHILADELPHIA -- Boston College jumped out to a 1-0 lead early in the first period on a Johnny Gaudreau score. The Hobey Baker Award favorite knocked home a rebound off a Kevin Hayes shot to give the Eagles the early advantage against Union College in Thursday's first Frozen Four semifinal at the Wells Fargo Center.
The Dutchmen had two power plays to the Eagles one, but BC was quick to pounce on Union players with the puck to prevent any real good scoring opportunities.
The winner of tonight's first semifinal will face the winner of Thursday's second tilt between Minnesota and North Dakota on Saturday evening on ESPN.
