The NHL trade deadline is on Thursday, and many players are on the move, including some currently in the NCAA.

The first current NCAA player to have his rights moved at the deadline is Notre Dame senior forward Jeff Costello. According to Darren Dreger of TSN, Costello's rights were traded from the Ottawa Senators, who selected Costello in the 5th round of the 2010 NHL Draft, to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for AHL defenseman Patrick Mullen, an alum of the Denver Pioneers.

Costello is a captain of the Notre Dame squad this year and is currently sixth on the Irish in scoring with 11 goals and 9 assists through 34 games. For his career, Costelllo has scored 39 goals and 40 assists in 139 career games. Listed at 6-0 212 lbs., Costello plays a physical, power forward type of game, that could potentially make a solid checking line forward.
