WORCESTER, MASS. -- Boston College and UMass Lowell are tied 1-1 after 20 minutes in the Northeast Regional Final at the DCU Center. The winner advances to the 2014 Frozen Four in Philadelphia.

The scoring started at the 12:57 mark when Johnny Gaudreau and Kevin Hayes worked their magic following a neutral zone turnover by UMass Lowell. Gaudreau skated in the left side, patiently waiting until he had drawn UMass Lowell goaltender Connor Hellebuyck far enough over. He fed the puck to a wide open Hayes for an easy finish at the top of the crease.

The River Hawks tied the score on the power play late in the first period when Michael Kapla's wrist shot found its way past BC goaltender Thatcher Demko, who appeared to be screened by traffic.

UMass Lowell will have 1:50 of power play time to start the second period. The River Hawks out shot the Eagles, 11-8 in the opening frame.
