After getting a lead pass from defenseman Zack Kamrass, Arnold crossed over the blue line and made a few fakes before wristing a laser into the top corner of the net, beating Notre Dame goaltender Steven Summerhays high glove side. The goal, coming at the 13:54 mark, gave the River Hawks a 2-0 lead.
Notre Dame out shot UMass Lowell, 10-9, for the period. River Hawks sophomore goaltender Connor Hellebuyck had to make a few high-end saves in the first half of the period in a two-three minute flurry.
