BOSTON -- Northeastern returns to the friendly confines of Matthews Arena for a second consecutive Saturday night and is still in search of its first win of the season. This time, the Huskies welcome New Hampshire for the 163rd meeting between the two programs to close out a Hockey East weekend series. Faceoff is set for 7 p.m.
The Huskies clawed their way back from 3-0 down in last night's contest at Whittemore Center in Durham, N.H. but the Wildcats scored twice in the third period to claim a 5-3 win for their first of the season in conference play. Freshman defenseman John Furgele scored the game-winning goal on with 6:57 remaining in regulation to lift UNH, while Adam Clark made a career-high 33 saves in goal.
Senior Clay Witt returned to the NU net for the first time in six games last night and registered 27 saves but it was not enough as the Huskies fell to 0-8-1, continuing their worst start in program history. Despite the loss, sophomore center Dalen Hedges continued his impressive six-game stretch with a goal and now has two and four assists in that time.
