CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Before hosting Harvard at Kelley Rink on Tuesday night, Boston College announced senior goaltender Brian Billett has taken a leave of absence from the team due to personal reasons.
His leave does not stem from any violation of team rules.
Billett, a native of Brunswick, Maine, made 19 of his 27 career appearances, including 16 starts, last season for the Eagles. He finished 2013-14 with a 12-3-1 record, good enough for the second-best winning percentage (.781) among eligible Division 1 goaltenders, and was 7-1-1 in Hockey East league play.
Billett did not see any action in BC's first eight games of the season and dressed for just three.
Alex Joyce was added to the roster upon Billett's leave. Joyce is a 5-foot-10, 165-pound sophomore from Darien, Conn. and is a product of Pomfret School.
In addition, sophomore Thatcher Demko is not dressed for Tuesday night's game and Medfield, Mass. native senior Brad Barone will make his first collegiate start. Joyce will serve as back-up.
