Boston College's Steve Santini Out Until January with Wrist Injury

Matt Dewkett

Boston College announced that sophomore defenseman Steve Santini will be out until early January after undergoing scheduled wrist surgery on Tuesday afternoon.

Santini suffered the injury in Boston College's win over UMass on Saturday. Santini had one goal in Boston College's first four games this season; as a freshman, he tallied a 3-8-11 scoring line, playing in every game, save two he missed while playing at the World Juniors tournament.

Santini will miss some big games for the Eagles, including a highly-anticipated game against Minnesota on November 28th, and a matchup at Providence the following night.

Santini had been paired with freshman sensation Noah Hanifin early in the season, providing solid defensive play, which allowed Hanifin to take advantage of his offensive abilities. The Eagles now only have six healthy defensemen on their roster, though forward Danny Linell has also played defense for the Eagles in the past.

Santini was also eligible to play for the US World Junior team this year, and was nearly guaranteed a spot after playing on the team last year.
