Boston, Mass. -- Northeastern hosts Vermont on Friday night for the first of a two-game series this weekend between the two clubs. In a little bit of an oddity tonight's game will count towards the Hockey East standings while tomorrow's contest will go down as an out-of-conference game. League teams were left scrambling to fill voids in the schedule once Notre Dame joined the conference and Hockey East went from 27 to 20 league games.
Northeastern defeated Vermont, 3-0, last month in Burlington at the Gutterson Fieldhouse despite being outshot, 44-24. Clay Witt was phenomenal and the Huskies capitalized on their chances while the Catamounts whistled some good opportunities just wide.
Both teams come have been stellar since the end of November. The Huskies are 7-1-3 since Nov. 22 while the Catamounts are 8-2-2 in the same stretch. UVM's only two losses are against Northeastern and last weakend at red hot Colgate.
Clay Witt will get the nod between the pipes for Northeastern while Brody Hoffman gets the start for Vermont. Let's check out the line combinations for each team tonight.
